Spiritual Health

We care deeply about the spiritual health, development and growth of all of our students. Here, we practice as partners, not opponents. The whole dojo learns and sweats together. Our adult martial arts class offers philosophies and self defense tactics that can be applied throughout one’s life.

We Offer a More Comprehensive Curriculum than Crossfit, Yoga and MMA

What makes the School of Martial Arts West LA stand out from other fitness and martial arts disciplines is its breadth of philosophy in both physical and mental wellness. Relying on a foundation of Tai Chi, Kung Fu and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, our dojo puts a focus on self defense training, bodily health and meditation so that students stay well-conditioned and mentally at ease. With a curriculum based on ancient Chinese martial arts dating back hundreds of years, our classes offer an academic flavor that you won’t find in other fitness styles such as Crossfit and Krav Maga.

A Martial Arts Class That is Accessible and Memorable

Many people enroll in self defense classes to protect themselves. What we offer is that and so much more. It’s the reason why many students of MMA, Crossfit and Yoga enroll in our martial arts classes for a more well-rounded experience that fuses the best parts of working out and practicing spiritual health. Students get the one-on-one attention that they might get from a personal trainer in addition to the collective encouragement of the class.

As a lifetime student and instructor, Sifu Ryan Scott has seen the same transformation in the lives of his students as he has experienced in his own life. His passion for practice is surpassed only by his love for teaching martial arts. From young children to full-grown adults, his teachings of Kung Fu and Tai Chi have given many individuals the opportunity to become better martial artists, spiritual seekers, and just better people.
